Euripedes - "Hecuba"
Euripides’ plays exposed the folly of war and Hecuba is no exception. Once Queen of Troy, Hecuba is pushed to the edge of sanity by the deaths of her children during the Trojan War. Hecuba’s loss becomes the basis for her plan to seek revenge. Her satisfaction can only come with the death of her onetime friend, Polymestor. She seeks help from Agamemnon, Supreme Commander of the Greek forces, in seeing her scheme through to its final bloody outcome. This play takes place around the same time as Trojan Women and contains some of the most recognizable characters from Greek mythology, Agamemnon and Odysseus among them.
